Sharing the same passion for architecture and design, Marcel Žnidarič (Slovenia) and Diogo Rocha (Portugal) successfully collaborated on multiple projects in Portugal and abroad over the 6 months period of this exchange.

Host entrepreneur, Diogo Rocha and his business partners run a contemporary design studio engaged in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture and urban design. They are working passionately to realise a diverse portfolio of projects that range from buildings to public spaces and masterplans. With multiple successful projects in Portugal and abroad, they managed to establish a successful brand and gain worldwide recognition for their work. New entrepreneur Marcel Žnidarič, collaborate with them on exciting new projects in Portugal and Scandinavia.

During his change, new entrepreneur, Marcel Žnidarič worked with his mentor and senior architect in multidisciplinary design team spanning seven nationalities and educational backgrounds. Marcel has mostly been involved in developing architectural ideas, drafting plans, designing various graphics and building digital 3D models for largescale residential projects in Porto, Portugal and Tampere, Finland.

This collaboration fostered the transfer of ideas, skills and experience between entrepreneurs in the field of architectural planning and design. Specific training activities and objectives set before the exchange were globally achieved. Projects, which entrepreneurs collaborated on, were not only completed successfully but received international recognition and award. Collaboration had local significance and global impact and serves as an exemplary case of successful cross-border exchange.

New entrepreneur Marcel Žnidarič summed up his experience with following words:

“My Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs exchange experience was amazing. Working alongside my mentor Diogo Rocha and his team at MASSLab helped me substantially with developing my own business plan and had a big impact on my professional and personal development. I gained international experience in architectural practice and work in team with senior architects on challenging projects. Professional experience of Diogo and his business partners helped me build sector specific and entrepreneurial skills needed to start my own business venture. I would recommend Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme to anyone interested in gaining practical experience and building their capacity to manage a small business.”
